IHCS 2013 Kristallnacht Memorial
2013 Speaker: Survivor Lili Gordon

Hear the Miraculous Story of Holocaust Survivor Lili Gordon

“Where were you born?” This is a question we usually ask people we meet. Survivor Lili Gordon’s answer to that question is one so beyond  human comprehension her survival can only be explained as “miraculous.”

Lili’s parents were actors, and they were Jews. When Hitler’s Nazi army advanced on Kiev, Ukraine, on June 22, 1941, Lili’s father was drafted into the Russian army. He told Lili’s mother to leave Kiev, even though she was eight months pregnant. They sat on railroad tracks for four days until a cattle car train picked them up.

2012 Speaker: Nuremberg Journalist: Vivien Spitz
NUREMBERG TRIAL COURT REPORTER MEETS THE
“Doctors from Hell”

In late 1946, the US War Department sent a young 22 year old woman to Nuremberg as a court reporter for the Nazi war crimes trials.

There was no way Vivien Spitz could anticipate what she experienced as an eye witness to the testimonies of what became known as the “Doctors Trial.” Vivien recorded the stories of 20 doctors who were indicted for cruel experiments on prisoners.

Using a powerpoint presentation, Vivien will show you and tell you what she saw and heard during the 19 months she worked in that Nuremberg court room.

Now at the young age of 86, Vivien is probably the last court reporter still living. If you know anyone who doubts the reality of the Holocaust, please bring them to hear Vivien’s story.

The purpose of this memorial is to remember those who perished in the Holocaust, to honor those who survived, and to pledge, “Never Again.” We are grateful to Rudy for his courage to share his story with us and keep the message of the Holocaust alive for future generations.

While our Kristallnacht Memorial is a very serious evening, our desire is not to glorify the death and destruction caused by the Nazis. Instead, we rejoice over life and that good triumphed over evil. Faith and love will always defeat hate.

As we mourn the horror and nightmare of the Holocaust, we also celebrate life. Hitler is dead — “Am Yisrael Chai.” The people of Israel live.
