DOES EZEKIEL KNOW?
I have always wondered if the biblical prophets know what is happening in our world today. For example, does Zechariah know that all the nations are “coming up to Jerusalem” to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles as he wrote in Zechariah 14:16?
Regarding the signing of a nuclear agreement with Iran, does Ezekiel know that his prophecy recorded in Ezekiel 38-39 is now a clear and present danger to the United States and the whole world?
The American president, who hates his own country, just advanced the likelihood that we will see Ezekiel’s prophecy fulfilled in our lifetime. I cannot think of any agreement more evil and more destructive to the world than the agreement the US government made with Iran. As we all should know, it is far worse for Israel than any other country.
As evil as it is, we must remember that the Creator of the universe is sovereign and has written history in advance for our understanding. And He will use for good what man intends for evil.
You see, Ezekiel prophesied that in the latter days of history, when Israel is restored as a nation, Persia would join with Gog and other nations to attack Israel. Biblical Persia is modern day Iran. Iran will soon have the ability to launch nuclear weapons on their missiles which will be capable of hitting the US. Are we those dwelling in securely in the coastlands?
God gave this insight to Ezekiel who wrote these words 2,600 years ago, “And I [God] will send fire on Magog and on those who live in security [confidently] in the coastlands. Then they shall know that I am the LORD. So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not let them profane My holy name anymore. Then the nations shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel” (Ezekiel 39:6-7).
God has a plan for Israel and the nations. He has written it in the Book of Books—the holy Bible. Evil world leaders think they are having their way. God sits in the heavens laughing at their blind arrogance. He will have His way.
While there are difficult days ahead, Ezekiel is clear—Israel will survive it all and become the head of nations. The people of God will prevail and rule the nations under the righteous government of the One True God. You can bet our life on it.
In spite of the evil path the world in on, all nations will acknowledge and worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. King David himself wrote of this time and said, “All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. For the kingdom is the LORD’s and He rules over the nations” (Psalm 22:27-28).
Does Ezekiel know – what do you think?
